Consider the price. If you are planning to attend a nursing school in your home state, then you can expect to get a more affordable tuition cost. If you are planning to go out of state or want to attend one of the top universities out there, you can expect to pay more. See what sort of cost you should count on, and then be sure that your budget can accommodate it or that you can find alternative means.

Think through your schedule. Are you going to be working full time and attending school? Do you have kids or other important elements that you need to factor into your schedule? We all have busy lifestyles and though nursing school may be top priority for you, be sure to think through any of your other commitments and look for a curriculum that accommodates that.

Look at the curriculum. As different as nursing schools are, you can expect the same out of the curriculum. If you are looking for hands-on training most of the time, then look for this in a nursing school. If you are one that learns better in the classroom, then look for a curriculum that supports that. Each nursing school has a slightly different slant on this.

Look at the statistics. You want to take the time to find out what the statistics are for students getting jobs after college. Each nursing school should be able to provide such statistics and this can play into your decision if you want to go with a given nursing school or not.

Check the rankings. Though this shouldn’t necessarily comprise the entirety of your decision, the rankings for each nursing school can play into it a bit. You want to see where the nursing school that you are considering falls and then make your decision accordingly.

Go visit. When all else fails, go visit a campus for a particular nursing school that you are looking at. You want to get a feel for what campus life is like and you want to see what the classrooms and other facilities will be like that you’d be learning and working within. This can really help to shape your decision in the end.
